Well, not so much woe, as indecision. But we're a year out, so it's not yet a biggie.
Today I made up my mind that I wanted to wear a light grey suit at our wedding. It's a practical color, something to avoid the possible heat of late May in Chicago. Light grey would also go great with purple, our main color, and would add great contrast against the bridal white. I'd still look dapper in a bowtie, though if I had a grey suit, it should be a purple tie. I could possible still get away with a win…

I've finished the oil sketch and am now working on the large painting. Here are some steps in the oil sketch.
The underdrawing, full of errors and what not:

It could have been better, but I fixed things. I forgot how long oil paints take to dr…

I have ideas for what I want to wear for my wedding. I'm pretty sure that I want to wear a wing collared shirt with a black bow tie; they're a simple, smart and elegant choice. Also, a waistcoat or cummerbund would be appropriate and classy. However, the suiting options are what are bogging me down.
At the top of the list of my ideas are the black suit and the tuxedo, either probably made by
Thick as Theives. A black suit is the more practical of the t…

We have just nailed down the colors we're going to be working with for the wedding. We decided a while ago that we weren't interested in doing anything in white or black, and that color was the way to go. After bouncing around and lingering on a red/orange mix, we've settled on a blue/gray scheme.
The wedding dress is going to be mostly ('sapphire') blue, with light blue-gray ('cloud')accents and some trappings in a turquoise ('mosaic'). Its a nice mix, and now I'm trying to work out how to mat…

Holy crap! 70 Members!
It appears the word is spreading. More and more Offbeat Grooms are appearing out of the woodwork and we've just reached number 70! Make sure to make our new members feel welcome and as always, keep up the good conversation! There are a lot of good ideas and advice being tossed around.
As for me, I'm deep in the wedding planning process... With all the Save The Date addressing I've done, I can't quite feel my fingers. I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date as details be…

1) Where did you meet, and how old were you both?
Study hall in the cafeteria, our freshman year of high school. We always sat at a big round table with a regular group and played games, talked about music, and harassed the first-year teacher who looked after the study hall. (I totally just copied and pasted this from hers!)
2) What was the first thought that went through your head when you met?
I have no idea.
3) Do you remember what he/she was wearing?
No.
4) Where was the first place you k…

You must treat them like capuchin monkeys, either look at their foreheads or their chins when you have to speak to them. All other times, just stare at the floor and walk by them at a fast clip. If you fail to comply with this, it excites up their blood.
Let me back up . . .
The lady friend and I went to a bridal show a little while back. We went with the main intention of meeting the photographer that we want for our little shindig. While we were there, however, I started to notice a smell in…

We've been pouring over ideas for weddings ever since we got engaged. I've always been a bit of a sartorialist, if only on the inside, so I've had a score of ideas since high school of what I could wear. But the ideas we've had together haven't been good for both of us, which is terribly important for a wedding; when our tastes overlap, they typically overlap in complementary ways.
But, while perusing images together over the innertubes, we came across one of a couple of polka dotted feathers,…

I chortle, too, when I see myself sitting on my ass and actually having a hand in planning my wedding. But you know, the creativity is here now and I like using it. I have a long, satisfying dig coming up in a few scant weeks and that'll occupy me plenty. Thing is, we've got 20 months and I may as well invest some time and energy now.
I worked out my finances for this month and find ways to feel accomplished every day, so why the hell not. I realized something important. Marrying this…

I'll be using this highly convenient blogging feature to save and share resources, gather ideas and keep my dudes informed about their coming 15 minutes of limelight.
Luckily we have nigh on 20 months until the day, though, so don't expect torrents of upkeep.
A wedding. Hard to believe it's finally here. But for both of us it both seals a deal long coming and also gives us an excellent chance to explore some things we know little about and deepen our understanding of things we do.
We'…

Hey Guys (and gals)!
I've gotta say that I'm hella excited to have you here! After only TWO days on the Offbeat Bride Tribe, I knew it was necessary for the guys to have a place to call home, so the Offbeat Groom Gang was born. After much support from Ariel, creator of the Offbeat Bride Tribe and author of the book, The Offbeat Bride, here we are. So mingle, discuss, figure things out. I know it might seem hard at first, but trust me, you get over that really quick. It's an onbeat world…
