I have to apologize on my part for being gone for so long. It was a hectic year and I spent most of it redoing our new place pretty much from scratch. Our wedding day came and went, so I'll have to do some catching up for newcomers. Very good poi...

Just a thought, that could potentially save lots of money, and rather easy. Given the techno age we are in (hooray!) many people, many of your friends and family probably own digital camera's, and will probably bring them to the wedding. An idea ...

We are also doing a lot of DIY and DIwithHelpfromFriends. We are doing a Photobooth(found a program that was $75, and total budgeted cost is under/at 400), and my lady made our Save the Date cards with Lino-cuts. I'll pass that site onto her.

About Me:
an archaeologist with a knack for brewing who reads lots of comics, has a thing for medieval Islamic glassware, practices a kenjutsu art, prefers to be kilted and is fiercely loyal to his friends.

I'm marrying a beautifully articulated woman gifted with the pen, wit and her wiles in equal measure, a courtesan and a pirate both, peacock feather fans and Flogging Molly. She's in love with Janeane Garofolo a little bit, and with Alan Rickman. Damn, I love her for her second choices.

Share a couple of offbeat details from your wedding:
a leather kilt for me, a fascinator for her, more autumn leaves than flowers, caramel apple favors, mead toasting and high tea, the reds in her dress, my year-old goddaughter, 4 continent families, homebrews, wedding compost bin

Boston at its finest.
What is one idea for your wedding you've been the most afraid to suggest to your fiance?
Bagpipes. Wearing blades.
Or walking the cat.
What one thing do you want to have at the wedding more than anything else?
The people dearest to me in a single room. It's never happened before, and probably never will again.
What wedding tradition do you dislike most?
My character deliberately sidesteps. In summary I detest the hollow mockery that can remain of traditions when stripped of their origins and viewed with no eye for circumstance or the meat on their bones.

I cannot comprehend buying into a billion dollar industry that robs you of your own moment, bit for bit, buck for sweet buck, until your own expression has all but been replaced.

Fuck that. They're not taking my moment. I want to be part of redefining wedding tradition, not indulging it.

No Piña Coladas. You may be shot.

I chortle, too, when I see myself sitting on my ass and actually having a hand in planning my wedding. But you know, the creativity is here now and I like using it. I have a long, satisfying dig coming up in a few scant weeks and that'll occupy me plenty. Thing is, we've got 20 months and I may as well invest some time and energy now.

I worked out my finances for this month and find ways to feel accomplished every day, so why the hell not. I realized something important. Marrying this… Continue

Manifesto. Between my trowel and my blade, I arrive here.

I'll be using this highly convenient blogging feature to save and share resources, gather ideas and keep my dudes informed about their coming 15 minutes of limelight.
Luckily we have nigh on 20 months until the day, though, so don't expect torrents of upkeep.

A wedding. Hard to believe it's finally here. But for both of us it both seals a deal long coming and also gives us an excellent chance to explore some things we know little about and deepen our understanding of things we do.
We'… Continue

Hey! I was wondering if you could clue me in to how you made the photobooth, an if you went with the fotoboof program. The $600 pricetag threw me off, and I am wondering if you might have found a way around it. Thanks!

Hey, yes we are excited about the brewery. Their beer is great and they're letting us serve a wedding brew I'm crafting for the party too! As for bands, we're searching but sort of waiting until closer to the date since bands in Austin sometimes have a short shelf-life and we want to make sure we don't get left holding the bag after a break-up over creative differences.

I noticed in another post that you guys are building a photobooth?! That is so great! That was one of my solutions to the ridiculously high cost of renting a photobooth, but it was abandoned (for fear of not being able to actually build it for cheaper than a rental). Please tell us more of your plan! How will you control it, how much are you expecting to spend and all the details. My B2B & I would still love to have a PB, but only on the cheap cheap.

Wow! Very cool link.

Not only does that look cool, but it's a short drive from my house.

Unfortunately, I'm not a hop-head. If you have anything belgian-style, doppelbocks, or strong ales, then I think we can work out a deal.

As for hats, I haven't found anything that calls to me yet. But I want one. We'll see.

I don't know much about ceramic knives and personally use Wusthof knives because they have a great shape, keep a nice edge even after a beating, and are a little heavier. I'll look into the ceramic though and try and get back to you.

Hello fellow soon to be married men- So I have a bit of an issue... My family, is about as conservative as they come. They are also, EXTREMELY outspoken about it. I'm already catching immense flak from the point that we're not getting hitched in...
