The venue that we are holding both the wedding and reception at is on a state park and the building is built entirely from reclaimed wood and limestone - and the cost of renting the venue goes to the upkeep of the park and educational programs.

I ended up compromising on this issue - our save-the dates will be relatively silly/nerdy, (in the style of a 1940s movie poster or comic book cover) while the invitations themselves will be classier, more traditional.

About Me:
I am a graduate student in Library and Information Science in Chicago. People always tell me that I'm an 80 year old man stuck in a 12 year old's body. My hobbies are all over the place, I have played saxophone professionally, taught martial arts, and made chainmail clothing/jewelry. I love to travel, my fiancée and I met in China and have traveled to Japan and France together as well.
Share a couple of offbeat details from your wedding:
I am getting married at a lodge built from reclaimed limestone and oak on a state park. The officiant will be my close friend/college adviser who was with my fiancée and I in China when we met. Our wedding will be flowerless, instead of bouquets the bridesmaids will be carrying books.
What is one idea for your wedding you've been the most afraid to suggest to your fiance?
I made her promise that I would be allowed to wear a sword at our wedding when we first started dating. . . and once we got engaged I was somewhat nervous to bring it up again.
What one thing do you want to have at the wedding more than anything else?
I want the groomsmen to be an imposing wall of suits and knives, to call on the original purpose of groomsmen - to prevent anyone from kidnapping the bride.
What wedding tradition do you dislike most?
All the games that guests play to force the couple to act out for their amusement. The glass-clinking-kissing games, encouraging the couple to smear cake on each other . . . I'd like my wedding to be classier than that.

You gotta remember always that this is YOUR wedding, nobody else's. This is the one day in your lives that you get to have things your way. Think of it as a blow-out party that you both get to throw. Don't let ANYBODY else tell the either of you wha…

[I hope that Black and Burgundy beach wedding is'nt going to be in warm weather. Ya might fry a bit.] I have about 6 groomsmen, 2 ushers, a ring bearer and a Rockabilly officiant. I think it's a safe bet that the reverend will already have a decent…
