My fiancee and I have both agreed that our wedding should be a nice mix of small/classy and offbeat/fun. While we're both a bit nerdy, we don't want anything themed (i.e. Star Wars wedding, Anime wedding, etc.). Does anyone have any ideas on how to work in small nerdy touches without compromising the integrity and, I stress this word again, classiness of the wedding?
My fiancee and I are both into comics (she just got an amazing Batman tattoo on her left shoulder), could we work in something superhero related into our nuptials? Any ideas are appreciated.
I have two friends who read a ton. They had books on every table from their book collection and had themes on each table with the books. You could easily use this as an excuse to buy some comics and lay them out on every table.
An other thing would be just add "Defend you from evil" into the vows.

HA! Thanks for the suggestions. I like both of those ideas a lot. Working comic book art into some of the place settings or table designs could be really cool.
Hell yeah!
1. Cookies shaped like the batman logo!
2. Engagement photos dressed up as your favorite superhero!
3. DIY (Do It Yourself) Photo Booth with costumes and props!
4. Design your invitations like a comic book!

I really like the invitations idea, but we had talked about using vintage Chicago postcards instead (we're getting married in Chicago). A photo booth could be really awesome. I'll have to check out places that rent them.
I ended up compromising on this issue - our save-the dates will be relatively silly/nerdy, (in the style of a 1940s movie poster or comic book cover) while the invitations themselves will be classier, more traditional.
If you need encouragement/ideas for the Photobooth, we are doing one for our wedding. DIY. Renting one was over 600 dollars for only two hours, so that seemed rediculous.
My lady is getting ours up and going using a camera she got off ebay for 20 bucks(older ones are better for this for some reason). And a program for that does photobooth style shooting for 75.
if you want more details Send me a message and Ill get them from her.
OK, late reply but I think I am an EXPERT on this.
We are both nerds and wanted nerdy touches so we did a lot of sneaky things.
Star Trek Cuff Links
Tables named after Trek Characters
Named our signature drink the Inertial Dampener
Came down aisle to Next Gen theme song, she came down to Voyager theme song
Played movie overtures while everyone was being sat (harry potter indidana jones bond jaws
played only cover songs during reception including covers of Can You PIcture That
wedding recessional was I Love You Baby by Brak from Space Ghost
We did our invitation like a band poster and sent them out in mailing tubes
We had turkey meatloaf mini "cupcakes" with sweet potato "icing"
I cant believe I forgot our Keutbah (jewish wedding contract). It is awesome! You can also order them in non Jewish wording. We got ours from MP ArtWork. They have the best customer service ever!
We also had our dogs walked down the aisle then moved to the back of the yard. We spent a few moments with them during our Yichud then they were taken back to our home.
Thanks so much for your reply Justin! It's definitely not too late. I won't be getting married for another year, so there's plenty of time. BTW, I love your invitation. Awesome concept. Did you have the narration play before you walked down the aisle to the Next Generation theme? "These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise..." Hahaha.
It looks a bit purple in this picture but it's more of a blue. Also when it's closed it used these two straps to close it and I'm going to go with buttons. Also I will have a ivory shirt instead of a yellow one, to match my brides dress
