What are you guys doing for your receptions? Or feeding people? We were going to have it in a hotel suite in Vegas, where the wedding is, and bringing up a buffet style indian dinner with Rock Band and other things. As fun as that sounds, we think there could be better things to do. Any ideas? Please.
We are having our Wedding/Reception at a private residence. Nothing too out of the ordinary. It will be a mostly day-time event, the wedding starting at 2 and the two of us leaving at 9. It will be a strictly "green" event, solar powered lighting, bamboo plates and cutlery.all an all organic and locally sourced buffet and cake (on that note did you know that Fondant is basically sugar based plastic?) etc.
A local showman and foley artist is going to MC and run the music. We are only playing cover songs so while a lot of the familar music may be around, each song will have its own unique appeal (picture Willy Nelson's cover of Time after Time).
We are going to have a signature drink, forzen ginger lemonade-boozy and a kid friendly version. A local organic wheat beer and something for the bud light crowd as well, probably lonestar. One cool thing we are having is an iced tequila bar with hollowed out root vegetable in the place of shot glasses.
Here is our menu if anyone cares and the rest of the "green" processes can be found on our blog @ waythatyouwalk.blogspot.com.

I'm not sure if you looked into this at all, but there is a lot of cool natural stuff outside of the city that could be nice. We're having our reception outdoors, so I'm kind of biased to the outdoorsy stuff.
The scenery (mountains and a huge sky) out of the city are so beautiful, so I imagine there has to be some parks or cool areas available. The Lake Mead area could be cool, but it's about 1.5 hours out of the city. We went to a wedding in Vegas last year and the reception was at a really nice restaurant/brewery joint. It was cool and it fit the "Vegas" vibe, but there's definitely other options too.
our wedding is nice and simple. (or so i thought before we started actually planning it all.... damned weddings)
we have reserved a "shelter" (really big pavilion) at a state park. the actual ceremony will take place about 50 feet from the reception area right on the river. its wonderful that we don't have to move to far to get to the reception. there is a huge grill that we are gonna cook the normal cook out type foods, burgers, hot dogs, brots. nothing fancy. potatoe salad, chips, regular salad, anything else that regularly comes at a cook out. beer, wine, and possibly some harder alcohol will make the show as well.
we have a good friend who is trying to be a DJ, so he is doing our wedding for quoted price of "just feed me" which i really like!
its going to be a very large cook out... we have about 100 people coming, mostly her friends and family (she is local, i moved out here just two years ago... yes we have only known each other for just a little under two years!!!) i have my family coming from all over, illinois (thats where i am from.... and for who ever said "who wants to go to illinois?" i would! lol) and several other states.
so all in all its going to be a fairly relaxed day, or so we hope!
You gotta remember always that this is YOUR wedding, nobody else's. This is the one day in your lives that you get to have things your way. Think of it as a blow-out party that you both get to throw. Don't let ANYBODY else tell the either of you wha…
[I hope that Black and Burgundy beach wedding is'nt going to be in warm weather. Ya might fry a bit.]
I have about 6 groomsmen, 2 ushers, a ring bearer and a Rockabilly officiant. I think it's a safe bet that the reverend will already have a decent…
