I'm certainly planning to. I've been taking little notes for almost a year, before I even asked my love to marry me, but I haven't put anything firm together yet. The other day I came across this site which I've been copying some phrases from.

To be honest, I haven't even crossed that bridge yet. I've been engaged for almost a year and still have a year and a half to go before wedding time, but I really haven't considered it. Seeing as we're not having your typical ceremony, I would assume we are planning on doing our own vows.
Really, it's just from the heart. I'm a community theater actor, and I even improv'd my proposal. No preparation at all, and it still made her cry. I felt it was REALLY genuine. I don't suggest that to everyone though. If anything, I would prepare for the proposal by writing down some of the most important moments in your relationship, with every detail you can remember. These can be great for springing inspiration.

We're writing our own. Thus far what we've discussed has gone as far as:
She's a witch+pagan, I'm an ex-catholic, so we kind of got into it a little over those two pesky terms, "God" and "Goddess". I pretty much oppose using them. The thing is, every single word of the vows has to be something that I believe in wholeheartedly, that I could look someone in the eye and proclaim in a clear voice. So... that leaves me with having to not talk about God. We met in the middle. I'm totally into invoking the blessings of various elements of nature, like the sky, the earth, etc. Poetic comparisons like:
as patient as the tide
as kind as a spring rain
as firm as the earth beneath us
(the heat of the sun seems like a cliche)
as fluid as a murmuring stream
as
I don't know. I want to do some blessing in these directions, just haven't really worked it out yet.
any ideas along these lines? Got a few more in our notebook but I can remember them.
And also maybe some stuff about the 4 cardinal directions, although she hasn't sold me on that yet. I'm not sure if I attribute mystical significance to those. She does though.

Part of my proposal was saying, I want to share the world with you, from here to the stars and back, and I think I want to use some variant of that as part of my vow..
Bro, it sounds like you're pretty much nailing it. Just be careful Cassanova, it's tricky to kiss a girl propper when she's blubbering. On the compass tip you might want to think about relativity (how far east is the Far East and all that). It might be better to let yourself off hook and incorporate that sort of thing in a different way...like if your getting married on sod or sand you could carve yourself out fancy a little compass what-not with a stick and stand in the middle or somethin'.
You gotta remember always that this is YOUR wedding, nobody else's. This is the one day in your lives that you get to have things your way. Think of it as a blow-out party that you both get to throw. Don't let ANYBODY else tell the either of you wha…
[I hope that Black and Burgundy beach wedding is'nt going to be in warm weather. Ya might fry a bit.]
I have about 6 groomsmen, 2 ushers, a ring bearer and a Rockabilly officiant. I think it's a safe bet that the reverend will already have a decent…
